Picture this: a brand new colorway of Jordan 1's are dropping tomorrow at 11am, bound to resell for almost triple the price of retail. You even saw that Travis Scott got them early and has been wearing them everywhere! Then, you get scheduled for a double shift and are at work when the shoes about to make you a quick buck sell out in 30 minutes.
You're left pissed off, without profit, and with no shoes to sell to your customers.
Missing the sneaker drop is a common issue for resellers. I'm here to tell you some other common issues, and provide you with a starter checklist to make sure you aren't falling into any reselling traps.
One of the biggest issues for resellers is a lack of sales and contact organization. Often times, a reseller will get so bogged down with sales happening all at once after a drop that they will forget to log the sales. If they forget to log sales, they'll forget the customers they have sold to, and what they bought. By staying organized, resellers can reach out to past customers more easily, understanding what they like and don't like, and get repeat sales from them.
Secondly, people reselling shoes will often fall into a time window trap. We know resellers live extremely busy lives, which can cause them to miss the time window for sneaker drops. Obviously, you can't ring up Kanye and ask him to push back the drop time for the Yeezy's to accommodate your work schedule. The last pitfall sneaker resellers fall into is not being able to find people to buy their shoes. Often, this happens when you don't stay connected with your past customers, and don't actively market your shoes available to a large audience.
Below is a link to be able to recognize these common issues before they take a long-lasting toll on your business, and making money. Happy reselling!
